Had a nice relaxing 3 day weekend....Thursday I had a few friends over....we made a fire and made smores....It was so much fun! :) (and....I didn't burn the house down..hehe) It was one of the friend's birthday on Friday...so...it was kinda a birthday celebration. It was super cold...so sitting by the fire was PERFECT! We even got these new 'flat' marshmallows that are perfect for smores!
Friday my dad and I went to the hockey game...it was sorta spur of the moment...the wranglers posted on facebook that the reality stars from the sister wives were going to be at the game and doing a meet and greet! I was super excited...because i just LOVE that show! They actually live in Vegas and I am always on the look-out for them! Seriously! Hah....Someone once told me they seen them at Trader Joe's...so ever since then I've been keeping my eyes peeled! That wasn't the ONLY reason I wanted to go to the game....I also LOVE the wranglers...and this was our first game of the season. It was a spectacular game too- we were winning the entire night...and pretty much blew them out of the water...(or you could say blew them out of the ice..haha) the final score was 9-3...and we got free tacos! (if the wranglers score 5 goals everyone wins tacos from del taco)
Being a fan on facebook actually paid off...because during the first intermission the sister wives ACTUALLY did do a meet and greet! It was awesome! I felt star struck...but when I talked to them they seemed really nice and down to earth. Kody was there with only 2 of his 4 wives: Janelle and Christine. Meri and Robin weren't there. But I got a picture with them, and they signed a picture for me. It pretty much made my night...week...maybe even month..haha.
The rest of the weekend was pretty much chill..hung out at home....and did a little grading (I am still behind..)
Tomorrow is Halloween...and we are going to have an "orange" party in the class. Everyone is supposed to bring orange snacks for the classroom. I picked up some orange plates, napkins, and brownie bites with orange frosting! I also made my little kiddos little goodie bags complete with a orange tumbler cups that look like a jack-o-lantern. I hope they like it!
That brings me to Day 29: Post a Picture of you and a family member: I chose this picture taken a few years ago of me and my dad at a hockey game...thought it would be fitting-given the festivities of the weekend....

fender bender
Last week I got into a little fender bender....it was just that....a small fender bender....barely anything. I was getting off the freeway at boulder...and I was going right to DI (Usually I go left to Sahara...but there is so much freaking construction I am going an alternate route) I was at the yield sign to turn right and there was a van in front of me. I was looking left to make sure no one was coming...and there wasn't anyone coming....so I started to go....when I turned my head to start going I realize...too late....that the van hadn't gone yet. God knows why he hadn't moved yet...there was ABSOLUTELY no one coming....So I tapped the guy's back of his van....didn't think they even felt it...but they did because they pulled over....it was a company van and there were two guys in the van...they got out and asked me for my drivers license...and insurance...I grabbed both and went to give it to him. The other guy was moving this step on the back of the van up and down to make sure it worked....it did.. he was also calling his boss to see what they should do. Even though it was just a fender bender...I was freaking out....my hands were shaking...and I felt like crying. I felt so stupid...I should have been paying more attention...So after exchanging information...(the guy completely forgot to get my insurance info) the guy couldn't get ahold of his boss and since there was no damage...the guys decided to just leave...and be on their way...THANKFULLY! If we would have called the cops I probably would have gotten a ticket for hitting someone in the ass end....as well as not having a current copy of my insurance (my insurance card in my car was expired...oopsy) I instantly called my mom...who just so happened to be in Wisconsin....I told her what happened...and she calmed me down.....however it pretty much ruined my day....I was still a little hysterical at work as well...and I just felt off the rest of the day...however this was all brought on by me not paying attention. I have been more careful since the fact....I try to always learn from my mistakes.
Ok now for day 28..Post a picture of something that means a lot to you: My cats...bella and blanca mean a lot to me! Blanca lives with my mom and dad...and bella lives with me. I love her like she's my kid! She is so freaking cute and cuddly. I love listening to blanca..he has such a personality and he will let you know what he's feeling..... yay for my cats! :D

Day 27
Been off for a while....sooooo busy lately....my dvr is filled...literally...so I'm not just neglecting the blog....but also neglecting my dvr...haha....
Since I have last written...I went to a 2 day concert called the 48 hour festival. It was really fun....there were a lot of different bands.....to say the least it was extremely fun...just a little bit hot...other than that...fun....I really enjoyed Hollywood Undead...and 3 day's grace. I would say those were my two favorite bands...and I was very thankful to spend this time with friends.
this past week...I went to a training after school and we had the dreaded Halloween carnival.....the night we have been planning at work for at least a month! It went ok...we had the haunted house...and the cake walk...and a soda pop ring toss...it was a long long night! But I really enjoyed seeing all the kids dressed up...overall...good night
Last night was pretty busy as well (I told you I have been busy) I went shopping yesterday to try and find a nerd costume....because I had a roller derby to go to...where the theme was freaks vs. geeks ...and a Halloween party immediately following. I didn't have a costume so I figured...I'd dress up as a geek to go to the roller derby and then I wouldn't have to come home and change etc. before I went to the Halloween party afterwards. I found this "nerd kit" at savers....it had a pocket protector....a "hi my name is" name tag, nerdy black glasses complete with the white tape around the middle of the lenses...then I bought a white shirt with a pocket...and some funky socks. To complete the outfit I got some suspenders from party city. Put together I wore my jean capri's, with my funky socks and my chucks..it looked like I was wearing high waters....hehe....and then my bestie came over and did my hair for me! She parted it zig zag and made nerdy pigtails...and she even wrapped hair around it to cover up the hairband.....I don't know what I would have done without her The hair style totally saved my costume!
The roller derby was awesome! I'd never been....and I'd been wanting to go for a long time....It's not like the movie whip it though....It's a little sad....I wish they could be more violent like back in the day....but the theme night was cool...there were a lot of costumes...and for a people watcher like me....lots of interesting people to keep me entertained...haha
The Halloween party was fun as well....bud light lime beer...beer pong...costumes..and good friends....what could have been better?
So today is day 27....post a picture of your day...
Will you accept a couple of photos to sum it up?
Can you say hangover? haha...when I woke up I am pretty sure I was still a little drunk from the night before.....well i wasn't super hung over..just a little tired...and out of it....I think this was because I drank a whole bunch of water before I went to bed...and throughout the night (3 entire bottles to be exact) and I took some advil before going to bed...that's the trick people...:)
I had to make sure I got up on time...so I set my alarm for 11....we had an appointment at bella bridesmaids to look at bridesmaids dresses.....It was a fun time....although I couldn't try on any of the dresses that we are thinking of getting because I'm too fat to fit into the sample sizes....however...the dresses look very nice on the other two bridesmaids....
After our appointment we went to red robin. I love red robin! I always get the same thing...a bbq chicken wrap...it's delicious! They have the best fries too!

Finally I went home to work on this huge pile of grading for about 4 hours! and I'm not even done! Can you believe it???? I can...I did say in a previous blog that I wouldn't put off my grading again..lol...i think that was wishful thinking! I graded all of the stuff except the writing...I am saving that for another night to make a boring night a special one...heh
This concludes the wrap up..of my time away....till another day....goodnight!

Day 26
Lately, I've been in a funk. I want to get out of it, and I've been trying...But I cannot seem to shake it off! I feel like every night I throw a pity party for myself. I sit and cry and feel horrible. I go to bed feeling sorry for myself and I do not want to feel like this anymore. Every morning I have to drag myself out of bed....and all I want to do when I get home from work is sleep. I have no desire to go out and do anything fun and I am just feeling very negative.
In the past I was always the look on the bright side person, and if something bad happened, it sucked and then the next day I was over it or close to being over it. Now I feel like I dwell more on stuff, and I'm remembering other things that made me upset from the past. (maybe stuff that I never really got over)
I think I'm very good at hiding when I'm not feeling ok. However, someone recently told me that my emotions are written all over my face. So...maybe I'm not as good at hiding it as I thought? However if I'm not good at hiding it, then how come no one knows that I've been feeling upset lately?
I try to pinpoint what is making me upset....however I am sure that it is a combination of things.
Work is probably one of them. Sometimes I LOVE my job. Sometimes I wish that I had picked another profession. When I stay late and don't get overtime pay...that's when I hate my job. When I take my work home and am constantly working throughout the weekend...that's when I hate my job! I sometimes wish that I had picked a job where I can leave on Friday (on time)...and come back on Monday refreshed....a job where I didn't take grading, and lesson plans, and anything else home on the weekend, and work all weekend..just to go back to work and do it all over again the next week. I want a job where I can take a sick day or a day off and I don't have to make a lesson plan, put everything out.... and spend hours getting ready for a substitute. I want to just take a day off and then come back and go back to work. I understand that I knew all of this before I picked this job...and most days I LOVE my job.....I love the kids...I love teaching them how to read....and write...and add and subtract. I love seeing the light bulb go on....I love knowing that I made a difference in a child's life. I love doing the fun exciting things like cutting open a pumpkin, or going on field trips, or reading my favorite book to my class. So you have to take the good and the bad when you look at things. But lately all I can see is the bad :(. I need a day off....or maybe a week! Guess I'll have to wait till December to get a substantial amount of time off.
so this blog was completely random...I'm sorry.....
I'm just going to post Day 26:
Post a picture of something you wish you could change:
I wish I could change my job! I've never done anything besides teaching! I don't want to quit my job...I just wish that I would have tried out different jobs before settling on my job as a teacher. I am definitely going to be a teacher for a while....no worries...I'm NOT going to be changing my job anytime soon....however....I wonder what other jobs are like....and what I'm missing out on. I know sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side but I notice that other jobs sometimes have perks and I notice that the only perk of being a teacher is the summers off...but most people do not realize that teachers do not get paid for that time off....so it's basically a leave of absence...not a "vacation". Where when you get "vacation time" at another job it's paid leave. Ok...enough negativity about being a teacher. I'm going to bed....no pity party for myself tonight....I think

day 25
So Day 25 is supposed to be post a picture of your favorite book. I have a whole bunch of books that I like. It got me thinking....my favorite book...what is my favorite book?
I love James Patterson books and I am currently reading the numbered series by him. I read number 7-9, then I read 1-4 and I'm currently on number 5. The 5th Horseman, and I've read every single book by V.C. Andrews! I LOVED the twilight saga, and I pretty much do not read the book unless I love it.
Then I started thinking about children's books and what was my favorite children's book. I have SOOOO many too! I can't just pick one...when I was little my mom read me the Berenstain Bear Books, which I loved. We also visited the Berenstain Bear City at Cedar Point when I was little, which brought the books to life for me! I still collect those books, even though kids now a days aren't huge fans. I have so many children's books in my collection....a whole shelf full for the kids and a four drawer filing cabinet full of my personal children's books! So....when you ask me my favorite book...I pretty much blank! There are too many to choose from...and I cannot just choose one.
One of my favorite Berenstain Bear Books is The Messy Messy Room. But I pretty much loved all of them! I have to say, this is my favorite series by V.C. Andrews...and I just checked her website and apparently she has new books out? So I guess I haven't read them ALL. But I will be going to get them from the library as soon as I finish the books I'm currently reading! :)

Day 24
Day 24: Post a picture of something you wish you were better at:
I wish I was better at organizing. Yes, I've been working on this...and I have gotten a lot better...and sometimes I'm like YES! I got it, I'm on my way to getting organized....however then piles start piling up and then I'm back where I started.....geez....
But let me mention that my piles are most likely organized piles....I know in the vicinity of where whatever it is I'm looking for is....most of the time.
This is where I'm at with my classroom...I have one shelf that needs a little tender love...and the back corner where the sink is, under the sink in the cabinets needs organized, as well as the stuff in boxes. Not too bad...lol It's on my list of things to do..hehe
My house...not as bad as my classroom....the garage needs some attention...but who's doesn't right? hah....and I want to organize my crafting materials etc. One day I will be organized....probably..hehe

Day 23
Nothing FANTASMIC happened today in the life of holly. It was pretty uneventful. However, the rain must have grown a few fences over night, because when I got to school today you now have to walk completely around the portables to get to my classroom, the girls' bathroom is blocked off, and the girls have to walk all the way around to get to it. I feel for the kindergarten wing...because it feels like they are completely blocked off from all of us...It also makes dismissal a little challenging....but who doesn't like a challenge? All of this, because they jacked up part of the sidewalk. The joys of construction...wait...I don't think there ARE any joys..haha...maybe the joys come later when we have a nice new school. Maybe.
Today is day 23 A picture of something that you wish you could forget. I am going to be cliche and post this picture:
I'm pretty sure everyone wishes they could forget this! So sad....and still affecting us 10 years later!
P.S. I wish this day was post a picture of someone you wish you could forget...because I have the perfect person!
Good Night!

Day 22
Day 22:
This is sorta lame, since I think I've already had 2 that were similar...if not the same....as this one. But I am not in the mood to think of another idea..and this is what it says on the list.....therefore
A picture of somewhere you'd like to travel.
Egypt and see the pyramids. They are so interesting to me. A teacher at my school does Egypt as their multicultural presentation every year and its just so cool! I've learned a few things just by watching a first grader's presentation! I want to go and see with my own eyes...

pampered chef...and day 21
Haven't been on in a few days....had a somewhat busy weekend....hosted a pampered chef party on Saturday...it was A LOT of fun....but A LOT of work as well! If you know me, you know that I am not much of a chef...not really into the cooking part of it or the cleaning up part..haha. Thankfully it's just me at my house..therefore I do not need to cook much. I do cook every Tuesday for my family...and once in a while for a party or something.
It was fun. Everything we made was DELICIOUS. We made this garden pizza that was phenomenal! It had tomatoes, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms on it. We also made these potato bites with bacon and sour cream. Last but not least we made this rocky road lava cake in the microwave! It was so cool! At first I wasn't sure if the thing was going to fit into my microwave, (my microwave is very small) but it did! I really want to buy the microwave cooker and am thinking of getting it. I am all about cooking dinners, etc, in the microwave!
I was looking at the magazine...and there are just so many things I want! It's crazy! haha.....i think I'll have to limit myself...my budget won't allow for me to go too crazy. haha....
Ok...today is day 21: Post a picture of you when you were little.
Well you are in luck today...it took me about 40 minutes to find these pics...and I had to scan them! (woah....getting high tech here..) so I'm posting two today! These are two of my favorite pics of me when I was little. Good ole' Olen Mills (I think that's how you spell it)!
